Land Acknowledgement
Dear Future YEG is based in Edmonton, Alberta on Treaty Land, specifically Treaty 6 Territory in Amiskwaciwaskikan, the traditional lands of the Cree, Saulteaux, Blackfoot, Dene, Nakota Sioux, Métis, and many other peoples. This land has been a gathering place, a meeting ground, and a home for Indigenous peoples since time immemorial.
We recognize that with strength, our Indigenous neighbours continue to enrich Alberta’s culture and community, and take on the responsibility to support these communities. Their histories, stories, and voices are foundational to any conversation about civic life, justice, and community building.
As a youth-led initiative focused on access to resources and civic participation, we are committed to truth, reconciliation, and respect for Indigenous sovereignty. We support the 94 Calls to Action from the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) and continue to learn from Indigenous knowledge and leadership.
Civic engagement must include Indigenous voices: past, present, and future.
We encourage all visitors to learn more about the land you’re on: Whose Land Are You On?
Our Mission
The Apathy is Boring Edmonton RISE Cohort 13 has identified a gap in youth's access to civic engagement, opportunities, and information. To combat this, the team has created a website to help navigate political information, resources, and opportunities for community involvement.
Our Why
We know it’s hard to find clear, trustworthy information about mental-health supports, community services, career boosts, or the latest advocacy campaigns. That’s why we created this accessible online tool that organizes over 200+ resources under seven easy-to-browse categories, each with clear “Includes” and “Excludes” so you always find exactly what you’re looking for.
